Geekett uses Hostinger for her own sites, and WpDesignerMag runs on Hostinger. Hostinger was tested hands-on by Geekett. This review is based on Hostinger’s official plans, legal and help pages, plus the credited videos, tutorials, webinars and podcasts below. Linked third-party content may carry its creators’ own affiliate links or coupons, which have no connection to WpDesignerMag.

In this Hostinger review, we look at Hostinger’s WordPress hosting for beginners, bloggers and small businesses on a budget. It was tested hands-on by Geekett, with facts checked against official documentation and credited reviews. The clearest strength is a very low starting price with many tools included. The main trade-off is that renewal prices are three to four times higher.

How to read this review. We keep four kinds of information apart:

  • Official: facts from Hostinger’s own pages, checked on October 12, 2026.
  • What the video shows: what Metics Media shows on screen. Only the refund segment was frame-checked; the rest is the creator’s narration.
  • Creator’s views: opinions from creators and podcast guests, paraphrased and credited.
  • Our take: WpDesignerMag’s editorial explanation. It is not a test result.

Hostinger review: features and fit

This Hostinger review covers Hostinger’s WordPress hosting. It has three plans: Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup. We checked all facts against Hostinger’s official website on October 12, 2026. Geekett tested Hostinger hands-on, and the facts below are checked against official pages and credited reviews.

Official: Every plan includes a free domain for the first year, free SSL, a CDN, a web application firewall, free migrations, AI tools and “Priority 24/7 expert support”. All plans are paid upfront.

Our take: Hostinger suits beginners who want to launch a WordPress site cheaply and have most tools in one dashboard. Budget for the renewal price, not just the intro price. That is the number you’ll pay after your first term.

A note on plan names. Today’s plans page shows Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup. Older videos, and some Hostinger pages, still use “Business” for the middle plan. Treat “Business” as the older name. Where an official page uses it, we say so. We couldn’t confirm on official pages that “Business” maps exactly to “Unlimited”, so compare features at checkout.

Feature highlights

All of the following is official, from Hostinger’s WordPress hosting page and help pages, unless another source is named.

  • One-click WordPress: A guided WordPress install, plus WordPress tools in the hPanel dashboard.
  • Backups: Free weekly backups on Premium. Daily backups on Unlimited. Daily and on-demand backups on Cloud Startup.
  • Speed tools: A CDN on every plan. Unlimited and Cloud Startup use NVMe storage; Premium uses SSD.
  • Security: Free SSL, a web application firewall, a malware scanner with automatic malware removal, and DDoS protection. The FAQ says “enhanced DDoS protection” comes with “a Business or Cloud Startup plan” (older naming).
  • Staging: A one-click staging tool is listed. The help article says you need a “Business web hosting plan or higher” (older naming). Check which current plan includes staging before you buy.
  • Free migrations: Hostinger migrates existing sites for free. Hostinger says it transfers the site within 24 hours, with up to 5 active requests. Hostinger claims “85% migrations completed in under 5 minutes” (a vendor claim, not tested).
  • Email: Free mailboxes for the first year: 2 per site on Premium, unlimited on Unlimited.
  • AI tools: AI tools are listed on every plan. The Hostinger Agent is described as “Included in WordPress Business and Cloud Hosting” (older naming). Check whether Unlimited includes the Agent before you buy.
  • Email marketing: Hostinger Reach is free for up to 200 emails a month to 100 subscribers.

How the features help

Our take, based on official information. Results still depend on your theme, plugins and content.

  • Low cost to start: Four years upfront on Premium is $143.52, so it’s easy to launch a first site.
  • Recovery: Backups help you roll back mistakes. Weekly backups on Premium give you fewer restore points.
  • Easy moves: Free migrations help if your site is already somewhere else.
  • All in one place: Domain, email, SSL and WordPress tools sit in one dashboard.

Featured review video

Hostinger Review 2026 (my honest opinion), by Metics Media. Published March 2, 2026. Length: 13:08.

What this video is (our take): A review covering five Hostinger product lines, with WordPress hosting first. It is an affiliate video. The creator pushes his own link and a coupon, which we don’t share. We rate our confidence in it as medium. Plan names have changed since it was recorded.

Why it’s worth watching (our take): It explains clearly that the start price is a promotional rate, and it shows the refund page on screen.

What it shows (approximate times from auto-captions and chapters):

  • ~0:50: Web hosting plans and billing terms.
  • ~2:06: Promo vs renewal pricing.
  • ~2:46: Onboarding and the hPanel dashboard.
  • ~11:30: Refunds and support. The researcher frame-checked the refund-policy page at ~11:33.
  • Skip the coupon section at ~12:56.

Metics Media’s view (paraphrased): He finds Hostinger affordable and beginner-friendly, with “solid” performance on NVMe plans. He says hPanel “can occasionally lag”. He doesn’t recommend Hostinger’s site builder for e-commerce. He points out that renewals cost much more.

Where the video differs from official information. In each case, this article uses the official information.

  1. Plan name: The video calls the middle plan “Business”. Today’s page calls it “Unlimited”.
  2. Middle-plan price: The video says about $2.69/mo. Today Unlimited is $3.99/mo on 48 months. The $16.99/mo renewal matches.
Where the video matches: Domain refunds. The video says “about 4 days”, and the official policy says 96 hours for new registrations.

Best for / May not suit

Best for (our take, from the official feature list):

  • Beginners and first-time site owners who want a low start price and a guided setup.
  • Bloggers and small businesses with a few sites who are happy to pay upfront.
  • People moving a site who want a free migration.

May not suit (our take):

  • Anyone on a tight long-term budget who hasn’t priced in renewal at three to four times the intro rate.
  • Buyers who want monthly billing. The page we checked showed upfront terms only.
  • Sites that need daily backups or staging on the cheapest plan. Premium has weekly backups, and staging plan rules are unclear.

Things to know before you buy: two security incidents

Hostinger has published its own reports on two security incidents on its shared hosting servers. Here is what the company says, with dates.

  • The Notepad++ incident (found December 1, 2025; Hostinger’s report published February 3, 2026): Hostinger says it found suspicious activity on one shared hosting server on December 1, 2025. It says attackers specifically targeted one customer, the Notepad++ project. The server was compromised until September 2, 2025, and the attackers kept login details for an internal service until December 2, 2025, which could have let them redirect some Notepad++ update traffic. Hostinger says it found no evidence that other customers’ sites or data were affected. It says it moved the sites on that server, fixed the weaknesses and changed the exposed credentials. The Notepad++ developer (February 2, 2026) described it as a compromise at the project’s former shared hosting provider, and Reuters (February 2, 2026) reported that security researchers linked the attack to a China-linked espionage group. China denied involvement.
  • The LiteSpeed zero-day (September 16, 2026; Hostinger’s report published September 17, 2026): Hostinger says an attacker used a previously unknown flaw in LiteSpeed Web Server, the software it uses to serve websites, to get root (full) access to one shared server in its Brazil data center. It says the attacker placed a webshell (a hidden remote-control tool) on 430 accounts on that server and ran commands on 10 of them. Hostinger says it contacted the affected customers, deployed a patched version across its whole shared hosting fleet by 23:00 UTC that day (4 PM PT), restored affected sites from backups taken before the attack and moved them to a new server.

Our take: Both reports come from Hostinger itself, and each says what changed afterwards. Whichever host you choose, keep your own off-site backups and turn on two-factor login. Sources: Hostinger’s Notepad++ report and Hostinger’s September 16, 2026 report.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Official: Very low intro price, from $2.99/mo on 48 months. Official: Renewals are about 3.3x to 4.3x the intro price.
Official: Free domain, SSL, CDN and WAF on every plan. Official: All plans are paid upfront.
Official: Free migrations. Official: Premium has weekly, not daily, backups.
Official: 30-day refunds on hosting. Official: Domain refunds are 96 hours; many ccTLDs, crypto payments and the first payment after a Free Trial are excluded.
Official: Priority 24/7 support on every plan. Official: Some pages still use the old “Business” name, so plan rules can be unclear.
Metics Media’s view: Easy onboarding and hPanel. Metics Media’s view: hPanel can lag.

Quick summary: Pros are the low start price and a full toolset on every plan. Trade-offs are the big renewal jump, upfront payment and unclear plan naming on some pages.

Pricing quick glance

Official, from Hostinger’s WordPress hosting page, checked October 12, 2026. Prices in USD, without VAT.

Intro price vs renewal price. The intro price is for your first term only. After that, you pay the renewal price.

Plan Intro price (48 months) Paid upfront Renews at Jump 12 months at renewal
Premium $2.99/mo $143.52 $10.99/mo About 3.7x $131.88
Unlimited $3.99/mo $191.52 $16.99/mo About 4.3x $203.88
Cloud Startup $7.99/mo $383.52 $25.99/mo About 3.3x $311.88

“Jump” and “12 months at renewal” are our arithmetic from the official prices (renewal rate ÷ intro rate, and 12 × renewal rate), before VAT. They are not a quote. Check the renewal term and total at checkout.

  • Billing (official): “All plans are paid upfront.” The monthly figure is the total divided by the months in your plan.
  • Money-back (official, refund policy last revised October 2, 2026): Hosting can be refunded within 30 days of the transaction, including renewals.
  • Refund exceptions (official):
  • No refunds on crypto payments.
  • The first payment after a Free Trial is not refundable (and VPS hosting is excluded).
  • New domain registrations: refundable within 96 hours (.br: 168 hours). Many country domains, such as .uk, .ca and .us, are not refundable.
  • Domain renewals, completed transfers and Google Workspace are not refundable.
  • If your plan came with a free domain, Hostinger may deduct the domain’s cost from your refund.
  • Hostinger may decline refunds it sees as abuse.
  • Free domain: Free for the first year only. Check the domain renewal price before you buy.

Prices are shown as checked on October 12, 2026, in USD. Confirm current terms before purchase.

In a nutshell

Our take: Hostinger makes the most sense for beginners and small sites that want a cheap start with a domain, SSL, CDN and migrations included.

Look at the renewal price before you buy. Premium renews at $10.99/mo, Unlimited at $16.99/mo and Cloud Startup at $25.99/mo, compared with intro prices of $2.99, $3.99 and $7.99.

Check the plan rules too. Premium has weekly backups, and some pages still use the old “Business” name for features like staging and the AI Agent.

Rating

Hostinger rating: 3.9/5 (★★★★☆, shown as 4 stars). This rating comes from Geekett’s hands-on testing, with facts checked against official docs and credited reviews: a strong toolset and a very low start price, held back by large renewal jumps and unclear plan naming.

Geekett tested Hostinger hands-on. We scored each category from 1 to 5, using official information and the credited sources for the facts. Support is not rated in this review.

Category Template weight Score (1 to 5) Evidence-based reason
Feature set 40% 4.0 Domain, SSL, CDN, WAF, malware tools and migrations on every plan; weekly backups on Premium; staging rules unclear.
Ease of use 20% 4.0 Guided install and one dashboard; Metics Media finds onboarding easy but notes hPanel can lag.
Value 20% 3.5 Very low intro prices, but renewals are 3.3x to 4.3x higher and payment is upfront.
Support 20% Not rated Not scored; officially “Priority 24/7 expert support” on every plan.

How the weights were redistributed: Support’s 20% was removed, leaving 80% across the three rated categories. Each remaining weight was divided by 80%:

  • Feature set: 40% ÷ 80% = 50%
  • Ease of use: 20% ÷ 80% = 25%
  • Value: 20% ÷ 80% = 25%

Weighted score: (4.0 × 0.50) + (4.0 × 0.25) + (3.5 × 0.25) = 2.0 + 1.0 + 0.875 = 3.875, rounded to 3.9 out of 5.
