Who we are
WpDesignerMag is an online magazine about WordPress design, run from British Columbia, Canada. Our website is wpdesignermag.com. We are responsible for the personal information described here.
WpDesignerMag

What we collect
- Email address. When you ask for a free audio guide or PDF guide, or join The WordPress Weekly, you give us your email address. The forms also note which guide you asked for and whether you ticked the optional box for more emails.
- Account details. If you register or log in, we store your username, email address, password (encrypted) and any profile details you add.
- Comments and posts you submit. If you comment or submit content, we store what you write, the name and email you enter, your IP address and browser details to help stop spam.
- Messages. If you email us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our host records basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited, time) for security and to keep the site running.
- Affiliate link clicks. When you click a tracked link, we count the click (which link, the page, the time and a general location based on IP address) so we can see which recommendations are useful.
Why we use it
- To send you the guide or email you asked for.
- To send The WordPress Weekly and occasional WpDesignerMag updates, only if you ticked the optional box. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To run your account, show your comments and posts, and answer your questions.
- To keep the site secure, stop spam and fix problems.
- To understand which articles and recommendations help readers.
We only collect what we need for these purposes. We do not sell your personal information.
Consent
We ask for your consent when we collect your information, for example when you subscribe or tick a box. Email marketing is opt-in. The box for extra emails is never ticked for you. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at WpDesignerMagazine@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer send you a guide or newsletter.
Email with Brevo
We use Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) to run our signup forms and send our emails. When you subscribe, your email address and your choices are stored by Brevo. Brevo may record whether an email was opened or a link was clicked so we can improve our emails. Brevo's privacy policy: brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
Affiliate links and affiliate cookies
Some links on WpDesignerMag are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, the partner (for example a hosting company) may set its own cookies in your browser to record that you came from WpDesignerMag. Those cookies are set on the partner's website and are covered by the partner's privacy policy. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Analytics
We do not currently use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent through our cookie banner first.
Cookies and third-party content
We use a small number of cookies that the site needs to work, and we ask for your consent before loading optional services such as embedded YouTube videos, Brevo form scripts and similar third-party content. Some pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and profile images from Gravatar, which means your IP address is shared with those services. Full details and your choices are in our Cookie Policy.
Who we share it with
- Brevo (email and signup forms).
- Hostinger (website hosting).
- YouTube, Google Fonts and Gravatar (only the technical data needed to show their content).
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
These providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the European Union and the United States. When that happens, your information is subject to the laws of those countries. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to ours.
How long we keep it
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again.
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Comments: as long as they are published, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Emails to us: up to 2 years after our last reply.
- Server logs and click counts: usually no longer than 12 months.
How we protect it
We use secure HTTPS connections, strong passwords, limited admin access and providers with good security practices. No method is perfect, so if a breach ever puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Email WpDesignerMagazine@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Children
WpDesignerMag is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
